Scholarship Vignette: Camden Stohl, 2018

Thank you for this opportunity to share my experience with the Thursday Morning Music Club with our community! Below is a brief bio of my musical involvements since high school.

Camden Stohl, violin, is a native of Wilmington, NC and former winner of the Thursday Morning Music Club scholarship award. Camden received this scholarship award in 2018 and also won the Richard R. Deas concerto competition in 2018 which gave her the opportunity to perform with the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra.

Since high school, Camden has received a Bachelor of Music in violin performance at East Carolina University and is currently pursuing a Master of Music at the University of Maryland. Upon her acceptance to UMD she was awarded a 2-year assistantship for the university’s fellowship quartet program. The Varié quartet, the fellowship quartet of UMD, now performs for outreach for the university and the surrounding community. Camden studies with Professor David Salness at the university, who is also the advisor and coach of the Varié quartet.

While visiting her hometown, Camden enjoys playing with the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra whenever she is able, going to the beach, painting with friends, and giving back to the community through music performance with friends and family.

The opportunities she received within the music community in Wilmington in her adolescence helped propel her into her professional life as a musician and she attributes her ability to continue her musical studies to the generosity of the Thursday Morning Music Club and their scholarship award.
